Waterfoot, Co Antrim

Glenariff

(The Queen Of The Glens)

Page Two

This is a view of the beautiful Glenariff forest park near the little village of Waterfoot, Co Antrim. A variety of pleasant walks with beautiful scenic spots along the way are available around this area.Restaurant, shop (building on left). To the right of the green area, among the trees are some spectular waterfalls and crystal clear pools. Further to the right, across the Waterfoot- Cargan road is the location of the camping site. A very enjoyable day can be spent here at the forest park for a small entrance fee.

This photo was taken from the mountain on the south-east side of the park where one of the tracks will eventually lead you. As you can imagine it's a tough track but is well worth the effort, having some great views down the Glenarriff glen towards the sea at Red Bay, the forest park( Photo) and surrounding countryside.

Walking by road down through the glen to the sea is also very scenic and well worth the effort.

Apparently this area was the last place in Northern Ireland were Gaelic was spoken.
